Stone Roses 7" Singles Boxset

So this was cool. In the UK, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Stone Roses new Deluxe LP Boxset (see my other post about that), the lable released a 7" boxset and 1 new 7" single each week. The 7"s all say "Limited Edition" on a sticker that seals the single to prove if you've opened it or not to play it. Who knows how many were made, but the UK has traditionally made and deleted singles in a week. So I'd be shocked if more than 3000 sets were made, but I could be wrong.

The boxset is quite large and designed very nicely. Size of a deluxe coffee table book. Sweet.

Killers Hot Fuss 7" boxset

Back in 2005, the Killers released their multi-platnium album as a 7" boxset. The boxset was limited to just 5000 copies worldwide and each box was numbered. As you can see, the box above that I own is #18/5000 and still sealed. The cool thing about this boxset was that the b-sides all featured a rare song, b-side from the UK or a remixed track. Quite a few tracks didn't see the light until the band released Sawdust, but still it is a cool item. The Killers seem to be pretty creative on their releases (an original Hot Fuss on Blue Vinyl can set you back $300+) and have tried to do stuff for the fans (e.g. Record Store Day Picture Disc).

Iggy Pop Preliminaires Deluxe Box Set

So here was something that I just stumbled upon. Apparently it came out in May and only in France. It is Iggy Pop's new album, which is apparently an ode to Paris of sorts. The album features the following:

A Deluxe Boxset is available at only 6000 units worldwide (each one is numbered on the back). This boxset contains the Préliminaires LP album, a collector Les Feuilles Mortes / King Of The Dogs 7 inch single, the cover of which is Iggy’s portrait by Marjane Satrapi, and a 28 pages drawings booklet also by Marjane Satrapi. Go figure. All for only $41 from the French Amazon website. Nice.

Dream Theater Black Clouds & Silver Linings Deluxe Boxset

Another nice set, with the "willy wonka" factor thrown in. Here is the new Dream Theater Deluxe Box set. Unknown how many copies will be made, but it is a tad pricey at $132.00.

Ween 1996-2000 Deluxe Box Set (Aural Exploits Exclusive)

Personally, I wish more record stores/labels would put out their own releases like this and work with artists to get stuff that hasn't appeared on vinyl or is out of print remade in a cool way. Case in point this boxset, limited to just 1000 copies (each numbered) and scheduled to come out in September. This boxset features the following:

Housed in a slip case style box, included (all in full color jackets with printed inner sleeves) are the three Ween albums "12 Golden Country Greats", "The Mollusk" and "White Pepper". Each album is pressed on 180 Gram colored vinyl.

Also included is a 12" x 12" album flat of the front cover from each album (suitable for framing), a sticker and a postcard. Sweet. I already ordered mine. Hurry and order yours before they are out. It's only $65.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium Deluxe 4LP Set (Art Version)

As you can see here, there was a very nice Deluxe version of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's last album that came out. Most people don't know that there are 2 Versions of this set floating around on the market.

Set A: Has the item number/bar code of: WEALP44391

This set usually retails for around $40 and contains the records on regular vinyl.

Set B (Pictured): Has the item number/bar code of: WEALP49996

It contains the following:

The Deluxe Edition features four 180-gram High Performance Vinyl LPs - because sound matters! The band’s analog recording was mastered for vinyl by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray. Plating and pressing was done at R.T.I. The package, a silver box, includes two 16-page books, and the discs are housed in individual sleeves, printed on special paper.

So as you can see, there is a pretty big difference between the 2 sets. The 2nd set usually runs for about $100 or so at retail. But it is a very nice boxset and it is made well.

Eels Blinking Lights and Other Revalations Deluxe

I recently was able to pick up a Sealed copy (#474) on Ebay for a very nice price. But this is the Deluxe Edition of the Eels Blinking Lets Boxset. Limited to just 2500 copies, this set features the following:

The deluxe BLINKING LIGHTS package includes 3 LPs of the critically acclaimed album on vinyl for the first time with a fourth disc that is an exclusive 17 track live album,MANCHESTER 2005, recorded shortly after the release of BLINKING LIGHTS.
